Edward M. Kennedy

TRIBUTES

Dean Zanetos

Prayers answered and hope eternal is what Senator Kennedy means to me.

As a young guy I was drafted toward the end of the Vietnam War. I wrote a letter to my Senator, Ted Kennedy, about the corruption in my basic training unit and of the abuse that was extended far beyond any "normal" training to all of the recruits.

He actually cared. Because of him, an investigation came to pass and those involved in the abuse were disciplined and the abuse stopped.

This ended up saving my life. I later became a photographer for the 3rd Army, which led to my utilizing my GI Bill and continuing college after I was finished with the service.

I thanked him then and I want to thank him again for caring enough to help a kid from his state.

Even though I no longer live in Boston, I will always consider Ted Kennedy as my Senator. He will be missed.
