Edward M. Kennedy

TRIBUTES

Kaitlin Sullivan

In the summer of 2006, I interned for Senator Kennedy's colleague, Senate John Kerry.  I was a Press Intern, so occasionally I had to come into the office very early in the morning.  On those days, I remember walking up to the Russell Senate Office Building and out of the corner of my eye I would see Senator Kennedy out playing fetch with his beloved dogs.  Every time I saw the Senator out there it put a smile on my face because here was a man who was widely known and respected, out playing fetch with his dogs just like everyone else...this showed me just how down to earth Senator Kennedy was.  I have many memories of Senator Kennedy from my time on the hill, but this one will always be my favorite.

I send my deepest sympathies to Senator Kennedy's family.  He was a great man who did great things for this country and that will never be forgotten.
